Low Daily Beer Expands with Field Office at The Yards, Belleville Station

Burlington-based brewery Low Daily Beer will soon broaden its reach by opening a satellite taproom at The Yards at Belleville Station, a new family-friendly food park set amid the renovated Belleville train depot and the Badger State Trail. The Field Office, as the new location is called, will be operated from a custom-designed cargo container, marking an innovative step in the brewery's continued growth.

Innovative Food Cart Pod at a Historic Site

The Yards at Belleville Station presents a unique take on the food cart pod concept. Built around Belleville's historic brick train depot—which dates to 1888 and appears on the National Register of Historic Places—the project anchors local revitalization. Catherine Howley, owner and project manager of The Yards, shared that using cargo containers channels the spirit of the depot’s freight-shipping past, blending history with modern, eco-friendly business practices.

Low Daily's Approach to Sustainable Expansion

Tim Sullivan, owner of Low Daily Beer, explained that he had sought a second location beyond his Burlington taproom but was motivated by the simplicity and reduced overhead of a compact 20-foot by 8-foot cargo container. The Field Office model appeals due to its limited staffing requirements and streamlined operations, making the expansion manageable while fitting right into the evolving downtown Belleville area.

Community-Oriented Features at The Yards

The Yards project is more than just a place to grab a bite or a drink. The site, nearly an entire city block, will host several cargo container businesses surrounding the restored depot. There are plans for a new children’s playground, fostering a family-friendly environment. Additionally, the depot itself, which has been unused since the 1940s, will serve as a focal point for special events and community gatherings once restoration concludes.

Culinary Expansion with The Kitchens

Another significant component of The Yards development is The Kitchens. Located at 130 South Vine, this facility is designed as a commercial kitchen space for small food producers, expected to open later this fall. Such infrastructural additions aim to support local food and beverage entrepreneurs and diversify offerings for visitors to the food park.

Low Daily Beer’s Signature Brews at the Field Office

Sullivan anticipates an opening for the Field Office location by late October or early November, operating Tuesdays through Sundays with hours to be determined. Visitors can expect to find a lineup featuring Low Daily’s celebrated Cowboy Cowboy IPA—a copper-hued, double dry hopped hazy IPA crafted with Citra, El Dorado, and Mosaic hops, known for its robust citrus flavors and 7% ABV. Other anticipated offerings include Antler Oktoberfest, a 5.5% ABV Marzen-style lager with bready notes, and Corn Federal, a saison dry hopped with French Barbe Rouge hops. Sullivan also has plans to age some of the saison in wine barrels for a special winter release.

Looking Ahead

Belleville continues to be one of Dane County’s fastest-growing residential areas, and The Yards at Belleville Station signals a new chapter of renewal and community focus for the downtown district. Low Daily Beer’s Field Office joins a roster of food and beverage businesses embracing the region’s historic setting, contemporary entrepreneurial spirit, and growing appeal.
